Welcome to Surf Strong

Founded in 2014 by Jerson Morales, Surf Strong started as a way to keep local kids off the street and away from the gangs at a time when the country was facing major turmoil. Based on the sandy beach of Playa San Blas, Surf Strong has become one of the top surf academies in El Salvador. The school is located close to shopping and dining in the Surf City area and is a quick 45 minute drive from the historic downtown San Salvador.

Our Methodolgy...

Surf Strong teaches the MAP technica from Brazil. MAP is a technique that focuses on balance, posture and a three step method to stand up when catching a wave. It gives surfers a stronger core and better balance while on the board. Jerson was certified to teach the technique by Arthur Philippie founder of the technique in Brazil. Arther studdied the science behind the sport and the movements of professional surfers to develop his technique. This technique has been adapted by many professional surfers around the world like three time world champion Gabriel Medina from Brazil, three time world champion John John Florence from Hawaii, USA, one time world champion Italo Ferreira from Brazil, eleven time world champion Kelly Slater from Cocoa Beach, Florida USA along with many other pro surfers from the WSL (World Surf League). The WSL hosts many competitions here in Surf City, EL Salvador over the last several years with the largest being the World Surf Games.

Our Team...

Our team is made up of instructors that are ready to take you from beginner to advanced levels. As our lead instructor, Jerson is ISA (International Surfing Association) certified from the United States, MAP technica certified from Brazil and is also a lifeguard trained in ocean rescue and certified by the Civil Protection Ministry of El Salvador. Our instructors customize classes to the individual surfer to provide quality instruction and service.

Additional Services

Tours and Airport Transfers

At Surf Strong, we encourage all of our clients to get out and explore out beautiful country. We are happy to organize tours to most local tourist destinations like: Lago de Coatepeque, Cascadas de Tamanique, Costa del Sol, Volcan de Santa Ana and many more.

We also can provide airport transfers for a round trip flat fee in a luxury vehicle or a 12 passenger bus.
